The United Arab Emirates seems to be the place to be if you’re a policeman and like driving. Perhaps because of the enormous amount of supercars being driven around the region, the police force has invested in a stable of super police cars – meaning that there’s pretty much nothing on the roads they can’t pursue. If you’re new to the concept of super police cars, it’s worth checking out this fun article on CarBuzz, which gives you a video tour of the Dubai police department’s astounding garage.
With cars such as the Bugatti Veyron, Ferrari FF, Nissan GT-R and the Aston Martin One-77, this police department probably doesn’t have any difficulty in finding volunteers to do extra shifts!
Now the Abu Dhabi police have added a new vehicle to their own line up: a Porsche 918 Spyder. It’s a great choice for catching those speedy criminals, and with a 0-60MPH time of just 2.6 seconds it’s as good as any other car in the UAE police stable. The car’s enormous amount of power, which generates 887 horsepower, comes from a 4.6 litre V8 coupled with two electric motors.
Like it’s other supercar stablemates, the Porsche 918 Spyder is coated in the livery of the Abu Dhabi police. Sadly, however, it’s not really going to be used just for running down criminals. Its main function is to be used for marketing purposes, to highlight the role of the police force and to engender public goodwill. With the beautiful body and stunning performance capability of the Porsche 918 Spyder, how could it not?
