Not so Top Gear - problems keep mounting for new presenter Chris Evans

It was always going to be difficult for whoever stepped into Jeremy Clarkson's enormous shoes as presenter of Top Gear. Yet few could have perhaps predicted quite how rough the ride would be for carrot-topped presenter Chris Evans, whose misfortunes have been continually making headlines. For starters, the atmosphere on set has reportedly been tense, with members of staff walking out and even Evans commenting that his first few days were a 'baptism of fire'.
Having survived that, he then got himself back in everyone's bad books by managing to crash a Jaguar on his first time around the test track - a sign of nerves, perhaps? The report that really has people worried, however, is that Evans is having huge problems with driving and talking at the same time. Even if you're new to the format of Top Gear, you should be able to guess that this a pretty vital part of the programme. Clarkson was famed for his off-the-cuff wit when talking to the camera fixed in his passenger's seat, and not being able to follow this is a serious problem for any new presenter.
An unnamed source told The Sun that, "Chris is really struggling to master the art of driving and talking to a camera, which is crucial. It's a skill. Jeremy, Richard and James could do it no problem, in one or two takes. Chris is in a massive sweat about it because he often ends up fluffing his lines." To cap it all, reports have just surfaced of Evans having to stop filming in California so that he could be sick on the side of the track. If that's true, we're not sure whether we have the stomach to watch the new Top Gear when it airs in May! Will you be watching the new Top Gear, or switching to Clarkson, Hammond and May's new show on Amazon Prime? Let us know in the comments.
