The Lamborghini Urus engine IS a one off

With the turbocharging debate raging across the supercar world, and marques such as Ferrari already making the switch, it's no wonder that Lamborghini fans are getting a bit nervous.
Will the raging bull also turn its back on naturally aspirated engines, they wonder? The answer, for the minute, appears to be no. We know this because although Lamborghini’s Urus, the new SUV, is indeed getting a twin-turbo four litre V8, this engine is not going to appear in any other of the marque’ models. This confirmation was first published in Autocar, which has grilled Lamborghini CEO Stephan Winkelmann on the topic.
Winkelmann stated that the company had previously discussed the possibility of putting the turbocharged Urus engine in other cars, but that it would ultimately contradict with their ‘one car, one engine ethos’. However, although he reiterated his company’s confidence in their naturally aspirated engines, he did also refuse to narrow his options for the future: "We are not saying that future engines will never beat what we have in our cars" he commented, "we are saying as long as there is nothing that is better, especially at low revs or in terms of the sound that the V10 and V12 have, we stick to them."
Meanwhile, work on the Lamborghini Urus is progressing and, as well as the type of engine, we now also know that it won’t come with any autonomous technology. Although its chief purpose is on-road fun, it will also have some off-roading capabilities. Don't expect it to rival a Bentayga or Range Rover across hill and dale, though.
