Expected to be revealed in full before the end of 2017, the next generation replacement for the Aston Martin Vantage; their entry-level car, has been spotted on the track.
The car pictured is thought to be the development model of the new Vantage in its production bodywork and it’s the best look yet at the brand’s latest sports car. It is thought to benefit from a lighter aluminium chassis which is more torsionally rigid than the outgoing Vantage's, which aims to improve agility and boost performance. Also new is the turbocharged V8 engine which will output some impressive stats with the 4.0-litre engine achieving at least 450bhp. It is expected to do 0-62mph in about four seconds, with power transmitted to the rear wheels via an eight-speed ZF automatic gearbox.
Although heavily camouflaged (as you’d expect) it is at least possible to make out the overall shape of Aston Martin’s new sports car. The front takes design cues from the infamous DB11, with a new larger grille and thinner sleek LED headlights which gives the new Vantage a distinct design.
The rear of the car is flatter and heavily influenced by the DB10 famously driven by Bond in the film Spectre, featuring a small hump at the edge of the hatch integrating a small lip spoiler, plus thin, horizontal tail-lights. Perhaps the most impressive influence taken from the DB11 is the air vents which blend effortlessly into the front wheel arches.
