Will the next Fast and Furious film take place in Cuba?

The Fast and Furious franchise has to be one of the great guilty pleasures for petrol heads, and every new film is heralded by a swarm of rumours about everything from locations to which cars will feature. Given Paul Walker's untimely death, the rumours have been plentiful already, with the question on everyone's lips being whether or not Furious 8 will go ahead.
That question has now been answered, thanks to a confirmation from Vin Diesel, so now speculation is growing as to what the next film will look like. We already know that Diesel, The Rock and Jason Statham will return, and that both Eva Mendes and Paul Walker's brother Cody are highly likely to make an appearance. Now, however, the film's director has been spotted location scouting in Cuba - which is something of a big deal given the rocky relationship between America and Cuba.
Although President Obama started started thawing tensions with the island nation last year, this would still be a bold choice for the film's location. It would also, arguably, be an inspired choice and one that lets the cast do stunts that simply wouldn't be possible in their other confirmed shooting location: New York. There is still a long way to go before the film appears on our screens, and there will undoubtedly be many more rumours to ponder in the meantime. No matter where it's set, we'll still be rushing out to see it as soon as it's released!
